Some workers consider the ultimate job to be one with a hefty paycheck. Others long for job satisfaction above all. But you don’t have to choose between these perks.
The titles on Glassdoor’s new “” list come with high pay and high satisfaction. In addition, these jobs are readily available, with thousands of open positions for each.
Specifically, these jobs offer median base salaries of anywhere from $55,000 (executive assistant, ranked No. 46) to $135,000 (strategy manager, No. 7). Glassdoor gives them job satisfaction scores as high as 4.3 out of 5 and job scores as high as 4.8 out of 5.
Glassdoor describes its “job score” as an overall score but doesn’t explain the precise mix of factors that determined which jobs scored highest.
The position of data scientist is ranked No. 1 for the third year in a row. It boasts a median base salary of $110,000, a satisfaction score of 4.2 and a job score of 4.8.
Data scientist is also reflective of a trend among top jobs. Glassdoor chief economist Andrew Chamberlain :
“Half of the jobs on this year’s list are those within the fast-growing technology and health care industries, reinforcing that highly skilled jobs are in-demand, well compensated and those in which employees are satisfied.”
The 10 highest-ranked jobs for 2018 (along with their median base salary) are:
- Data scientist ($110,000)
- Devops engineer ($105,000)
- Marketing manager ($85,000)
- Occupational therapist ($74,000)
- HR manager ($85,000)
- Electrical engineer ($76,000)
- Strategy manager ($135,000)
- Mobile developer ($90,000)
- Product manager ($113,000)
- Manufacturing engineer ($72,000)
