If you like the sound of working fewer than 40 hours a week and not commuting, consider a part-time, work-from-home job.
They do exist, and you’ll find a wider variety of them now. According to job-search site FlexJobs:
“There’s good news for anyone looking for part-time work — there has been significant growth in the past few years in relation to the variety of part-time jobs that are being offered.”
The top employers with part-time remote job openings
FlexJobs recently identified the top 25 companies hiring for part-time remote jobs this year.
The list is based on an analysis of more than 50,000 companies that posted openings for part-time jobs with telecommuting options on FlexJobs during the first half of the year. “Part-time” here means less than 40 hours per week.
The top 10 companies on the list are:
- Supporting Strategies
- Grand Canyon University (GCU)
- Robert Half International
- Landi English

About part-time remote jobs in general
While a greater variety of part-time telecommuting jobs are available now compared with in the past, FlexJob notes they are still more common in certain fields, such as education, health care and human resources. Most of the companies above are in one of those three fields.
There are part-time jobs for folks with various levels of experience and education, though.
Some also offer employees the ability to work flexible schedules. In fact, several of the companies on the list above were also cited in “The Top 10 Employers Filling Jobs With Flexible Schedules in 2018.”
FlexJobs reports seeing a variety of people searching for part-time gigs, including:
- Working parents
- Folks with health issues or disabilities
- Military spouses
- Career changers
- Folks seeking better work-life balance
