If you like the sound of working fewer than 40 hours a week and not commuting, consider a part-time, work-from-home job.

They do exist, and you’ll find a wider variety of them now. According to job-search site FlexJobs:

“There’s good news for anyone looking for part-time work that can be done from home — there has been significant growth in the past few years in relation to the variety of part-time jobs that are being offered.”

The top employers with part-time remote job openings

FlexJobs recently identified the top 25 companies hiring for part-time remote jobs during the second half of 2018.

The list is based on an analysis of more than 50,000 companies that posted openings for part-time jobs — meaning those requiring less than 40 hours per week — on FlexJobs from July 1 through Oct. 1.

The analysis homed in on the companies that offered the greatest number of telecommuting options. In other words, the odds of you of finding a part-time remote gig at these employers right now are higher than they would be at other companies.

The top 15 companies on the list are:

  3. Cactus Communications
  4. GreatAuPair
  5. Kaplan
  6. K12
  7. Robert Half International
  8. FlexProfessionals
  9. U.S. Department of Commerce
  10. VocoVision

  12. Profit Factory
  13. Cozymeal
  14. Walden University
  15. UnitedHealth Group

About part-time remote jobs in general

While a greater variety of part-time telecommuting jobs are available now compared with in the past, FlexJob notes they are still more common in certain fields, such as education and training, medical and health, and customer service. Many of the companies on the list above are in one of those three fields.

There are part-time jobs for folks with various levels of experience and education, though.

Some also offer employees the ability to work flexible schedules. In fact, a few of the companies listed above were also cited in “The Top 10 Employers Filling Jobs With Flexible Schedules in 2018.”

FlexJobs reports seeing a variety of people searching for part-time gigs, including:

  • Working parents
  • Semi-retirees
  • Folks with health issues or disabilities
  • Military spouses
  • Millennials
  • Career changers
  • Folks seeking a better work-life balance
